Job Summary

Working as part of the Musuem's collection team, the Registrar will perform and assist in coordination of duties required for daily operations of the museum’s collections department.

Primary Job Functions

• Responsible for accessioning and cataloging new three-dimensional acquisitions and entering data into digital asset management system.
• Process gift agreements and associated donation paperwork.
• Process loan agreements and associated loan paperwork.
• Generate monthly, quarterly and yearly statistical and insurance-related reports.
• Review and confirm research for 3-D donations.
• Monitor and document all artifact movement within and outside of the building and update records.
• Maintain all electronic and manual collection management records for three-dimensional materials.
• Assist collections and curatorial staff in the management of museum artifacts on exhibit, on loan or out for conservation.
• Assist in coordination of department interns and volunteers.
• Provide a presence for public programming, special events and associated museum outreach.
• Other duties as assigned.

Secondary Job Functions

• Digitize museum materials in response to requests from internal and external entities.
• Interact with on-site patrons, photographers, researchers, lenders and donors.
• Field public inquiries regarding collections from all HOF departments.
• Serve as event staff for Classic and Induction Weekends and other events as assigned.
• Assist with periodic inventories of 3-D collections on exhibit and in storage.

Job Qualifications

Education

Master’s degree in related field preferred.

Experience

Minimum three years of experience in a museum collections department. Must possess an extensive knowledge of professional standards regarding object handling, collections management, and documentation systems. Strong verbal and written communication skills required.

Abilities

Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Knowledge and appreciation of the National Pastime.

Typical Physical Demands

Ladder usage with the lifting and movement of artifacts and crates of various sizes. Prolonged usage of desktop/laptop computers.
