Nolan Ryan’s Hall of Fame Plaque to Make Historic Journey to Texas
Strikeout King’s Bronze Likeness to be on Display at Round Rock Express’ Dell Diamond April 17-18
(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – As a member of the Class of 1999, Nolan Ryan will always be at home in Cooperstown.
But while Ryan often makes the journey from his home state of Texas to the Hall of Fame, his bronze plaque has never left the oak-lined walls of the Museum’s Plaque Gallery – until this week.
The Pacific Coast League’s Round Rock Express, Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers and owned in part by Nolan Ryan, will display Ryan’s Hall of Fame plaque April 17-18 as part of the Express’ Opening Day weekend. The plaque will be on display from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, April 17 and from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18.
Fans will be able to take photos with the plaque, which will be located on the third base concourse at Dell Diamond before and during the Express’ games against the Memphis Redbirds. The plaque will be off exhibit at the Museum in Cooperstown from today through April 19.
Ryan, who pitched in a record-tying 27 big league seasons, is baseball’s single-season (383) and career (5,714) strikeout king and the author of a record seven no-hitters. For a look at Ryan’s remarkable career, check out the 2015 Hall of Fame Yearbook.
